PLAN OF LIFE for Lay Cistercians of Gethsemani Abbey Contemplation is the highest expression of man’s intellectual and spiritual
Jesus Savior, we praise you, we love you and we bless your Holy Name. As Lord of the harvest, you urged us to implore that laborers be sent to work and pray for the salvation of souls. And so we now beseech you to call faithful disciples here to the Abbey of Gethsemani so that the work of praise, love and service begun at this place 175 year ago will continue to flourish in proclaiming and celebrating your salvation. This we ask in your Holy Name.

Thank you for visiting our website. Lay Cistercians of Gethsemani Abbey (LCG) are lay Christians who are called to follow the Cistercian charism and spirituality of the Abbey of Gethsemani in Trappist, Kentucky. Our local communities meet in various locations throughout the United States.
Lay Cistercians of Gethsemani Abbey is devoted to nourish and sustain individuals who recognize a personal call that is experienced in community as a gift from God. We are called to be an active witness of Christ and his Church in the midst of the world, providing a prayerful and contemplative testimony in a life defined by the values of the Cistercian charism. This life is guided by the Rule of Saint Benedict as a concrete way to interpret the Gospel, and by our Cistercian Fathers and Mothers. This personal call is a means of continuous conversion, one that leads to a rediscovery and deepening of the grace of our baptism and the development of an adult faith.
