Reflection – Fr. Michael Casagram 11/20/24

+(Intro) We will hear this morning we will hear of the twenty-four living elders falling down before the throne of God saying:” Worthy are you, Lord our God, to receive glory and honor and power.” So let us reflect a moment about where we may fail to give God glory, honor and power in our own lives.

(After the gospel) The parable of the servants who each receive a talent of gold coins is clearly about each of our lives. How we make use of the gifts given to each of us will make a real difference when we come to stand before our loving God.

The parable is a call for each of us to be mindful of our talents however different they may be. Diversity is what makes a community very blessed, allows each of us to grow in often hidden and unexpected ways when we are loving in the smallest things, when we fill in wherever others are lacking, when we show some simple act of kindness or compassion. I know that in my own personal life that when I am inclined to judge another, if I say a prayer for the person, this changes my whole outlook.

We have all been blessed with a sharing in the very life of Christ as this Eucharist is a daily reminder. Every moment we reflect this life is to put to good use the talents each of us have received so let us be filled with gratitude for the gracious gift of the life we share.
