+(Intro) We all know what it is like to have unexpected storms to arise in our lives. These are calmed by Christ’s loving presence. So as we begin this celebration let us be mindful of our sins and God’s readiness, as we own them, to forgive and heal.
(After the gospel) in one way our gospel is the story of each one of our lives which, at times, are like Jesus’ first disciples out in a boat that is swamped by waves. At times if not often, our Lord Jesus seems to be asleep and unaware of what’s going on.
And when we cry to Him, “Lord, save us for we are perishing like these disciples we may find him asking: ”Why are you terrified, O you of little faith.” It is faith that continually opens our hearts to God’s presence at every moment of our lives, especially in those that are most trying and painful for us.
Maybe this is the reason these challenging and painful moments arise, to make us aware that our caring and loving Lord is never far away, ready to rebuke the winds and sea, so that there may be a great calm.
