+This morning St Paul invites not only the Philippian community but us as well to live in the love of Christ, to be “of the same mind, with the same love, united in heart.” One cannot help seeing how important this is for our Church today in its desire to be a more synodal community. We are to do nothing out of selfishness or out of vainglory, regarding others as more important than ourselves.
This is all entirely in keeping with the mind of Christ portrayed in our gospel this morning when he tells us to invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind when holding a banquet. Real love reaches out to whomever may be in need and is looking for help. I suspect a truly loving person finds himself or herself running into this all day long as we allow our hearts to become more sensitive.
