St Joseph the righteous man but unwilling to expose Mary to shame, decided to divorce her quietly. Just the thought of Joseph divorcing Mary gives pause for thought but then, one is faced with the complexity of his response to whatis happening in Mary’s life. We all have our ideas about what is righteous along with our love and care for those close to us. An angel appears to him in a dream to clarify what was really happening in Mary’s life. How important it is not to judge or to act out of what we consider righteous in regard to another’s life is an amazing message from our gospel today.
