+(Intro) Today we have the memorial of St Francis Xavier who was early on appointed by St Ignatius Loyola to do missionary work in the East Indies. We are all being called to be witnesses of Christ’s saving work so let us take a moment to reflect on our sins and failings.
(After the gospel) We just heard of how Jesus healed the lame, the blind, the deformed, the mute and many others. I have sometimes wondered if our faith were stronger, we would be more effective healers in our world of today. This is certainly what an infirmarian’s wishes!
Jesus not only continues to heal through us but also multiplies the loaves and fish as we gather around this alter, taking the bread and wine and changing them into his very own Body and Blood. Let us be ever more grateful for the Divine Life he shares with us, enabling us to be vehicles of his presence and mercy throughout the day.
