+(Intro) Today we remember Sts Andrew Taegon, Paul Ha-sang and their companions who died for their faith in Korea. While there were a 103 canonized in 1984, over 700 died for their faith in the mid 1800’s. Let us also remember our Fr Raphael this morning as he continues his own journey of faith. To begin this Eucharist we recall our sins and failing and ask God’s mercy
(After the Gospel) How appropriate it to hear this morning St Paul sharing with us the great value of our faith in the risen Christ. The witness of the Korean martyrs strengthens our own. Though a 103 of them have been canonized in 1984 by Pope Paul VI, in fact hundreds of them who died for their faith
Our gospel has Jesus going from one town and village to another proclaiming the good news of the Kingdom. Besides the 12 there was a group of women who accompanied him, many of whom provided for Jesus and his apostles out of their resources. We now know that it was a large group of lay persons who founded the Church in Korea though they were given little credit until recent years. God is often working in very hidden and wonderful ways in our world.
