Reflection – Fr. Michael Casagram – October 25 – Vocations to Priestly and Religious Life

+Mass today for Vocations to the Priestly and Religious life

Introduction:  We have each been called by God by reason of our Baptism, to present our bodies, as St Paul tells us this morning, to present ourselves to God as raised from the dead to life and the parts of our bodies to God as weapons for righteousness. But we all fail at times, so let us own the fact as we prepare to celebrate these Mysteries.

After the Gospel: In our gospel this morning we hear of God’s calling to each and all of us when Jesus asks: “Who, then is the faithful and prudent steward whom the master will put in charge of his servants to distribute the food allowance at the proper time?” By being called as Christians, each of us is to be a faithful and prudent steward of God’s gracious gifts. We have all experienced God’s graciousness in our lives, gifts of the Spirit: wisdom, understanding, counsel, fortitude, knowledge, piety, and fear of the Lord. What a privilege it is, to have these and to put them to use for the good of all around us.

And the Lord Jesus reminds us of this responsibility as he tells us that much will be required of those entrusted with much, so let us be ever more grateful and know that in the use of our gifts, many will seek to come as to share in them.
