If one decides to marry, then one is to uphold the sacredness of marriage. Jesus is firm in confirming the commitment between husband and wife.
The disciples seemed to have known well the demands of this commitment, and these are not unlike the demands of being faithful to religious life in a monastery. One way or other we are brought to the unavoidable realization that without God leading and maintaining our relationships, they fail. Whether married or living a religious life, we succeed only by means of the continual grace of the living God.
Isn’t this the great blessing, whether of the marriage commitment or religious profession, that of coming to experience God’s presence right in the mitst of our daily lives.
