Homily – Fr. Michael Casagram – 8/16/23 “Where Two or Three are Gathered Together In My Name”

+WHERE TWO OR THREE ARE GATHERED TOGETHER IN MY NAME           16 Aug. 2023

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ. Our readings this morning remind us all of how our lives are closely inter-related to one another.  The death of Moses tells of how much he was one with his people, guiding them to the promised land.

Our gospel has Jesus teaching us the way to go about correcting one another when this is needed. One to one as the first step, or with two or three witnesses and if neither of these work, then with the whole Church. What we bind on earth will be bound in heaven, what we loose on earth will be loosed in heaven. The life of all of us in a profound way, is to reflect the very life of the Trinity.

To live our community life demands a lot of mutual listening, understanding and love. To do so, is to allow the loving presence of Christ to be among us. And I can think of no better source of joy or way of attracting new vocations than allowing this loving presence of Christ to be among us.
