Reflection – Fr. Michael Casagram – What is the Greatest Commandment?

+WHAT IS THE GREATEST COMMANDMENT?

The answer of Jesus in our gospel, sums up the whole of the Christian and Monastic way of life. Our lives are to be given to the love of God and love of neighbor. Here we have the whole law and the prophets.

Prayer becomes urgent when we realize how we are being called to love God and neighbor all day long. It is only with the continual gift of divine grace that we can really live what we are called to by reason of our faith. To truly love God and those with whom we live, only becomes possible when the Holy Spirit touches and warms our hearts.

Today’s Eucharist for vocations to the religious and priestly life is our way of begging God to touch the hearts of men and women to live the religious and priestly way of life. The need for such love and service seems to grow each day. May our own way of life be a constant incentive to embrace this calling.
